Quilters and Quilt enthusiasts everywhere!

To Quilters and Quilt enthusiasts everywhere!

On Sunday, March 16, 2008, CBS News Sunday Morning put quilting in the national spotlight by airing a seven minute segment that profiled Ricky Tims and the International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX. This segment was presented in a very positive light and brought awareness to many who had no idea about the magnitude of today’s quilting industry.

If you missed it, the video of this entire segment is now posted on the CBS website or click here for the video “Quilts-for-sale.” .

I also encourage everyone to email CBS  (sundays@cbs.com) and thank them for the exposure. We encourage all industry professionals and all quilting consumers to view the video link and help spread the word. Please send this notice to your email list or to anyone who you think might be interested.

This opportunity to capture new quilters will strengthen our industry. Let’s band together as a quilting community and make this video the number #1 video on the CBS website. That in itself will speak volumes in letting them know their efforts were appreciated. It is uncertain how long the video will be posted so act now.

Nine Patch Star Baby Quilt

Last month I introduced a new line of quilt patterns  from Quiltalicious for baby quilts.

The designer, Tammy Harrision, had been (im)patiently waiting to get them back from her quilter because photographs are better visuals than the image of a quilt pattern cover.  Here is her finished quilt isn’t it pretty?!

These patterns are available for sale hereKits are available here for your quilt guild or charity and the kit will include 6 @ 1/2 yards of fabric at a special price and are for BOYS & GIRLS with a FREE PATTERN.

Spring is in the air -

You know the old saying for March “in like a lion - out like a lamb” - definitely “in like a lamb”. When I went outside to take this picture I could smell spring in the air and the birds were singing! It’s 37 deg and mostly sunny!

My SIL Judy sent me a post card of a picture she saw on my blog that reminded her of a verse from the Bible! What a nice suprise to get this in the mail! Thank you Judy!

I’m going to wrap my self up in my new fabric from Holly Taylor’s Natural Garden. This collection of delicate florals is inspired by the life and flight of the hummingbird. Natural Garden pays tribute to both the bird and the flower bed in its expression of rich hues both natural and surreal. You can almost smell the salvias, fuchsias, lupine and Irises in all of their blossoming glory. Click on Natural Garden to see a sweet pattern called MINNESOTA MORNING  for this fabric using charm squares!
