French Braid Placemats!
Placements for Melissa!
I wanted to make some placemats that weren’t too complicated for Melissa (our oldest daughter) and this pattern was it:
Sittin Pretty by Nancy Altsman of Black Cat Creations.
I love to french braid and the technique used here was simple. Fabric requirments are:
-
1 charm pack for the braid
-
1/2 yards for borders, and
-
1 yard for backs.
Sometimes it’s fun to start with a pattern and “tweak” it just a bit to make it simpler and faster.
I made 4 placemats using my ”tweaks” (no binding & easy borders) and the results:

The back side is 54″ wide fabric from the Holly Jolly collection and took 1 1/4 yards to do all 4 placemats! There was enough fabric left to make napkins!
